Celebrity Chef Opens Kitchen Franchise Store

In-toto kitchens heralded its 30th anniversary with BBC celebrity chef Simon Rimmer opening its 52nd high street store.

The official new showroom opening in April saw Simon Rimmer join Bristol store owner Philip Whitehead, and In-toto managing director Jonathon Wagstaff, to entertain guests by preparing a three course meal in the state-of-the-art, fully fitted demonstration kitchen.

Celebrating three decades of expert-driven kitchen design and installation having grown from just two kitchen franchise owners in 1980 to over 50 stores today, the Bristol In-toto store is the second to be opened by Philip who launched In-toto Swindon in 2007, after a 25-year career in computer sales.

Now running two stores with support from his brother-in-law Clinton Patey, his wife Michelle and son-in-law Tom, Philip believes his franchise success is down to location, the right product offering and family support.

Philips says, “We opened our Bristol store exactly three years after the launch of Swindon and our success – and the reason I selected a kitchen franchise as my choice of business – is down to the high value product we sell. Our kitchens retail between £15k - £30k which ensures a good margin for our design and sales input.

“Location is also key and we have secured a second city central premises with our Bristol store and being able to work with and involve different generations of our family has been an added bonus and contributed to a better work/life balance for us all.”

Philip added, “The opening was a superb night and we were delighted that so many people came to celebrate and support us including Simon Rimmer, whose passion for food truly reflects and complements our passion for kitchens. He created a fantastic atmosphere and was an inspirational addition to our evening!”

With 30 years in the industry In-toto is now the largest kitchen franchise in the UK. Jonathon Wagstaff says, “The Bristol store is one of four new In-toto’s opening across the country in the first half of 2010 which we feel is a true reflection of the continued strength of the In-toto design expertise and the quality of our product offering.

“We are keen to encourage our owners to develop multi-outlet businesses and enterprising spirit such as Philip’s has driven the growth of our business over three decades. We are delighted that our portfolio of stores continues to grow and this strength in numbers is a fitting tribute to this, our 30th anniversary year.”
